Double Doodle Health Considerations

The life expectancy for Double Doodles is 10-14 years.

All mixed breed dogs have a better chance of having fewer health concerns because of their genetic diversity. They benefit from “hybrid vigor.” However, all breeds are at risk for some health issues. When caring for your puppy, here are some health concerns to watch for:

  •    Allergies
  •    Cancer
  •    Progressive Retinal Atrophy

To keep your puppy healthy, make sure you provide him with plenty of exercise. Keep your dog at a healthy weight, take your dog in for regular checkups, and stay current on all shots and vaccinations.

Double Doodle Coat

The Double Doodle’s coat is usually curly and short. Because they are bred to have the coat qualities of a Poodle, these pups are usually hypoallergenic and shed very little. Their curly coat should be soft to the touch.

Brushing 2 – 4 times weekly will help remove dead hair and prevent tangling and matting. Owners can maintain a healthy coat by bathing every other month. To keep the coat looking neat and manageable, this breed should be clipped every 4 – 6 weeks.
