Akbash Dog Temperament
Akbash dogs are brave, affectionate, protective and independent. They need to be properly socialized & trained to not get too aggressive towards other animals or strangers. This breed is good with children and will be a wonderful guard dog.
Akbash Health Issues & Life Expectancy
The Akbash life expectancy is between 10 – 11 years. This is an extremely healthy breed with just a few concerns to watch for:
- Hip Dysplasia
- OCD
- Seizures
Coat Attributes & Care for Akbash Dogs
This breed has both an outer and inner coat. They can have a longer coat or a shorter coat. The inner coat is soft and the outer coat is harsh and weather resistant.
This Akbash Dog requires minimal grooming but a good brushing once a week will do them well, especially when they are shedding.
