Chorkie Overview The Chorkie is a designer breed created through the cross of the Chihuahua and the Yorkie breed. The Chorkie is recognized by the ACHC (American Canine Hybrid Club). This designer breed can also be registered through IDCR (International Designer Canine Registry) and ICA (International Canine Association, Inc).

Chorkie Temperament

The Chorkie is intelligent, active and playful. This breed is spunky and makes a great watch dog. With their high level of energy they love to play in the yard with their owners.

Chorkie Health Considerations

The Chorkie life expectancy is between 13 – 16 years. Health concerns to watch for in this breed are:

  • Luxating Patellas
  • Seizures
  • Cataracts

All mixed breed dogs have a better chance of having less health concerns because of their genetic diversity.

Chorkie Coat

Their coat exhibits three coat varities: smooth coat (short hair), long hair and wire hair.

Grooming varies between the shorthaired and longhaired Chorkie. The shorthaired version of this breed needs to be brushed 2 -3 times per week to keep a healthy coat. The longhaired on the other hand may need to be brushed on a daily basis.
