Belgian Tervuren Overview The Belgian Tervuren is a medium sized dog that got their name from the village of Tervuren in Belgium. This breed is 1 of 4 Belgian herding dogs. Once this breed wasn’t need for herding anymore, they were enlisted in police and military work which is what they still are used for today!

Belgian Tervuren Temperament

The Belgian Tervuren is a highly trainable breed and is recommended that you do train them. They get very attached to their families so they can be very weary of strangers. This is an affectionate breed who will be very loyal to their owners.

A typical lifespan for this breed is around 12-1years. Most Belgian Tervuren dogs tend to remain very active, even during their later years. Some possible health concerns for your Tervuren dog could include:

Belgian Tervuren Coat

This breed has a thick double coat.

This breed should get bathed once a month, or when they get dirty but you don’t want to over wash them. The Belgian Tervuren should be brushed about twice a week for most of the year, and daily during periods of seasonal shedding.
