Shih Tzus are loyal little lapdogs with a big heart and royal roots. Bred for centuries to be pampered companions to emperors and aristocrats, today’s Shih Tzus are just as happy curled up on your couch as they were perched on a palace throne. These affectionate, low-energy pups thrive on companionship, making them perfect for apartment living or quieter households.
While they’re hypoallergenic and don’t shed much, their long, luxurious coats do require regular grooming. Shih Tzus are gentle, friendly, and relatively easygoing — though potty training can take patience. With proper care, these devoted fluffballs can be a loving part of your family for up to 18 years.
