Charlie Brown – TEACUP Micro, Health Clear Adopted!

Don’t let Charlie Brown’s tiny size fool you – what he lacks in size, he makes up for in personality!  He is all boy!  He moves with lightning speed, knows how to snuggle in all of the right ways, and has mastered melting hearts!  Charlie’s classic move is climbing up you, sitting on your shoulder, and kissing you necky until you giggle and love on him!  He’ll ride around on your shoulder like a parrot if you let him!

Like his siblings, Charlie Brown also attended Elementary Dress-Up school, though he only earned an B+ because he sometimes couldn’t control his zoomies.  His sisters Peanut and Stormy both earned an A+.  His mother, Twinkle, is the personal dog of our 10-year-old daughter.  Thus all of the pups had no choice about attending dress-up school.

Charlie is 100% clear on the genetic health panel, including CDDY & CDPA (more info on this below), which is very rare and difficult to achieve when breeding Cocker Spaniels and Miniature & Toy Poodles, and extremely rare for a teacup-sized poodle-cross.  With these genetics, Charlie and his siblings will have ideal conformation. We expect Charlie to grow to about 5.5 to 6.5 pounds.  He weighed a hefty 1.4 lbs at his vet check when he was 7 weeks old; at 11.5 weeks of age Charlie now weighs 2.2 lbs.  His father is Tucker, an AKC Toy Poodle weighing 5.5lbs.  Charlie’s Chocolate & Tan markings are a double-recessive. You won’t find many pups with his markings, and especially at his size with a clear health panel. He is vet checked, vaccinated, wormed, plus comes with a 1 year genetic health guarantee provided by his breeder.

Charlie Brown and his siblings have also been well-started on socialization with bigger dogs along with children.  Developmentally, pups only begin to understand inter-dog social patterns around 7.5 weeks of age.  We keep all of our small-breed dogs until at least 11 weeks of age for this reason – because nobody likes a small dog who behaves badly and starts trouble when around other dogs, then expects to always be rescued by its humans!  When small dogs are socialized with bigger dogs from a young age, they learn to pay attention to the social cues from other dogs they might otherwise be oblivious to.  We take pride in breeding dogs with sound minds, and great care with how they are socialized while in our care.  When you meet Charlie Brown and his siblings, you’ll experience and understand how special they really are.

Chondrodystrophy (CDDY) is an autosomal dominant gene that causes Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), and can also affect the dog’s height.  Dogs will two copies of CDDY will likely develop a more severe manifestation of Intervertebral Disc Disease.  Dogs who carry IVDD with one or two copies of the CDPA gene are likely to develop an even more severe manifestation of IVDD.

Chondrodysplasia (CDPA) is also an autosomal dominant gene.  CDPA is the gene responsible for shorter limbs in certain breeds such as the Basset Hound, Dachshund, and Corgi.  The presence of CDPA alone (without IVDD) in cockapoos is more of a conformational issue and thus a matter of personal preference.  Cockapoos who carry one or two copies of CDPA will have disproportional height compared to length of spine.  Like CDDY, CDPA is a dose-dependent gene.  Dogs who have two copies of CDPA will have shorter limbs compared to dogs who have one copy of CDPA
