The Mini Poodle is sociable, even tempered & highly intelligent. This breed can be more reserved than most small dog breeds. This affectionate breed can be highly excitable and are always eager to please their owners. Mini Poodles do well with children. They love to cuddle with their owners which make them an excellent lap dog.
The Mini Poodle has a hypoallergenic coat which is great for allergy sufferers. Their coat has a single layer with no under coat. They have fur that is dense & curly.
Miniature Poodles come in a wide variety of colors, including chocolate, red, cream, white, and black with varying shades of these colors.
Brushing and shampooing weekly is recommended. Clipping every 6 - 8 weeks will also help maintain their coats from tangling or matting. Clipping closer to the body can also help in the maintenance of their coat.
The average life span of the Mini Poodle is 14 – 16 years. One of the more common health issues with this breed is luxating patella. Other health concerns can be:

• PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy)
• Ear Infections
• Addison’s Disease
The Miniature Poodle’s history can be traced back with the Standard Poodle. The Mini Poodle is just the smaller version. The Poodle was originated in German & Russia during the 16th century but was bred down in size in France. The Mini Poodle was created for more of a companion dog. The Miniature Poodle was recognized with the AKC in 1887 and grouped as Non-Sporting.
